Research skills, such as note taking, outlining, and citing sources, are also introduced. Students learn critical reading skills and strategies to increase their knowledge of and appreciation for fiction and informational texts. Students will demonstrate a general understanding, develop an interpretation, and create a critical stance. Literary elements are introduced through techniques, such as story mapping and close reading.
